Description:

Roots is a sculptural seat from my Roots series, exploring the deep foundations of love, friendship, and life itself. The root-like legs, formed leaf by leaf in wax and cast in bronze-effect resin, represent how our relationships intertwine with life—shaping who we are, holding us steady, and lifting us when needed. These unseen connections offer both emotional and structural resilience. Reinforced with metal rods, the piece is strong enough to sit on, embodying strength in both form and meaning.

My artistic journey began as a photographer, with works shown in private solo exhibitions on Dover Street and sold through Sotheby’s, before moving into sculpture and learning the craft. This particular piece feels especially personal: created through a time marked by shared upheavals—from Brexit to Covid—and also deeply private ones, such as my mother’s battle with cancer. These experiences have profoundly shaped the meaning behind Roots, which I believe speaks to something universal.
